Everyone knows that physical activity is very important and that if we do not make the most of every waking minute in our life we make the worst thing we can. Laziness is one of the biggest wrongdoings we do every day.

However, maybe this is not a total truth. Yes, being active and on the move is very good and healthy, but living life in the slow line is not the worst choice either and can be good as well.

Let us start with the siestas. Adults are not encourages to take a nap in the afternoon, but still, napping has been proven to be extremely beneficial for our health. Just the same, to be slow and lounging around is thought to be a flaw, but it turned out that it is not like that.

Namely, studies have indicated that it is a great way to stimulate your creativity, invention, and motivation.

Let us clarify this: we do not say that you should spend your life lying on the couch and not doing anything, just watching TV and snacking; we just say that it is useful for you to take several minutes of your time and rest when you need to. By doing this you will be fresher and more energetic throughout the entire day.

By reading this, you will see that taking a nap or sitting for a while is good and you should enjoy that time rather than feel guilty about it.

First of all, laziness is rather normal, since humans have evolved for lounging due to the fact that the body us permanently trying to conserve energy.

During wintertime, the human body produced greater amounts of melatonin, so we tend to be sleepier, while during summertime the heat prevents excessive activity.

In addition, laziness has mental and physical benefits, such as the following:

Improves Workouts

As weird as it may sound, being lazy and not spending the whole day exercising makes you focus on shorter, but higher intensity workout.

Also, you will have more time to enjoy the day, and it will get your blood pumping. According to research, shorter, intense workout followed by rest boosts the process of weight loss and is more effective compared to a long, dull training.

Lowers Blood Pressure

We all know that stress has a negative impact on the whole body and influences the heart rate and the blood pressure, leading to anxiety. But, if you take rest and you breathe deeply and relax your body and mind, your blood pressure will decrease and you will become more peaceful.

Stimulates Creativity

The brightest ideas have come while lying and not thinking of anything. The brain should be left to perform its cycle and organize its thoughts. When this happens, the ideas will become arranged in various new and interesting ways.

Also, excessive trying to come up with an idea is often counterproductive.

Strengthens Problem-Solving Skills

Giving your brain some time to come up with a solution is of course, a good thing, as the result will be positive. This does not imply that you should stay uninvolved and just sit and wait for things to happen on their own. This only means that you should determine the best time to relax the mind so that it restores its optimal power after a while.

Enhances Efficiency

Agatha Christie, the famous and respected writer, has said that invention arises directly from idleness, to save oneself trouble. In other words, numerous inventions that make our lives easier have arisen from laziness.

Furthermore, laziness may force a person to accelerate their performance, just to finish it fast and save the time needed for rest. However, no matter what the reason for laziness is, lazy people usually get things done quickly.

Appreciation for the Present Moment

Laziness is similar to meditation in terms of appreciating the current moment. If we enjoy the atmosphere around us, like the warmth of the morning coffee, the scent in the garden, or the view at the greenery outside, we will be relaxed, and our body will be able to recharge.

Supports Reflection

Not only that it wakes up the innovative thoughts, laziness also creates philosophical ideas. A person that wanders can start solving some complex issues and find out some more efficient methods.

Thanks to laziness, some people can better understand both things and people in their lives.

In the end, we are curious to find out what kind of person you are. Are you one of those who enjoy staying in bed throughout the entire day, or are you a workaholic? Or maybe you are one of those who succeed to balance their daily tasks and the needed rest to get the most out of their energy?
